A client in WA has engaged us to customize this design to suit his particular requirements. He requested to build this boat using Polyethylene plastic sheet. Being considerably heavier than the standard Duflex material usually used for this design, the hulls needed to be re-designed to allow for the new material.

The new hulls will carry this boat boat well with no sacrifice to freeboard or bridgeck clearance. The PE plastic sheet is welded together and has the advantage of not requiring fairing or painting, the material is supplied pre-coloured. PE has now been used extensivley in boatbuilding and has proven itself as a strong, tough and durable material. A local PE boatbuilding company will be carrying out this project for the client. The boat will be powered with an electric propulsion system and set up for extended cruising.

We visited this project recently, the owner has been busy working on some of the fiddly time-consuming jobs like making his own integral fuel tanks, installing the composite hatch gutters and fitting his holding tanks to name just a few. They say that 'the devil is in the detail' and this is usually true although it is what makes the difference at the end.

All plumbing and electrical routing has already been installed and planned out. The builder has also fitted his daggerboard cases and finished most of the cockpit fit-out. Part of the custom design done for him was a stylish cabinet across the aft saloon bulkhead with moulded covers above this to hide the steering gear and instrumentation from the helm station directly behind. Below the helm station is where the genset will be housed and all access hatches/lockers into this area have been fitted with drainage gutters. All service routing has also been allowed for in this area.

A new and interesting project underway is a customised 4.2m Ripple design. We are building this boat for a client who requires the boat wheelchair accessible. It will have a custom side access door on the Port side where the loading ramp will be positioned.

The wet-deck will be contiuous except for a Starboard side steering console well as seen on the 4.2m Ripples built in Hervey Bay. This boat is built using the Duflex foam (Divinycell) kit for extra weight saving and it will be craned and stowed on the roof of the mothership in a cradle. Fitted with beaching wheels, lift fittings, bollards, fender strip and some other extras. We will keep you informed of progress with this project as we go.
